DESCRIPTION:

Fight against waves of enemies to become the ultimate space survivor!
Arcade Space Survivor is an arcade-styled action-roguelike.
Collect EXP, upgrade your spaceship and survive in this retro-inspired shooter.
The game offers an innovative and unique experience within the survivors-like genre.

Differences to other survivors-likes:

  • Instead of HP the player has Lifes
    (like in old arcade games)
  • Exp will disappear after a certain time
    (around 10 seconds).

Loved this. I didn't want to stop playing. Good shmup with an element of strategy (picking the right upgrades at the right time). Only wish that there was a delay between choosing the upgrade and resuming play because it just jumps right back in and makes it hard to get away from enemies.

Also, wave 7 (I think) went from 0 to 100 real quick haha

There’s a slight slowdown after closing the upgrade menu, but I’m planning to add a short freeze and a sound for resuming game.

Each update will improve the balancing and also improve the wave system! It's interesting how important such little tweeks are!. The next update will include a completely overhauled upgrade system with probabilities, rarities, and rewards for Exp/Level streaks.

Cooles Update! Tolle visuals. Die Background Sonne nervt etwas (da sie auch gelb ist). Die gelben XP-Collectables respawnen lassen. Despawnen die lila Powerups eigentlich? (Bitte nicht :-). Was bedeutet die kleine gelbe Anzeige unter dem Player Char? Schußsound war zwischendurch weg. Ricky soll gebannt werden ;-)  Wir freuen uns auf das nächste Update

Die Sonne ist evtl. etwas zu hell - aber schön dass du sie gefunden hast - die Spawnt nur 1x auf der Map.

Die PowerUps bleiben auf der Map!

Die kleine gelbe Anzeige unter dem Spieler ist der Exp-Streak. Sammelt man mehr Exp hintereinander ein, steigt dieser und man bekommt einen Bonus! Wenn Exp verschwindet, sinkt er wieder. Das System sowie die Anzeige wird noch überarbeitet!

Der Bug mit dem Sound ist bereits gefixt :)

There will be more content such as Upgrades, Bosses, Events, Powerups, Enemy-Types (maybe Campaign & challenges)..

Very nice game! I like the subtle touch that the number of black pixels inside each enemy ship shows how many shots they take to destroy.

BTW, thanks for supporting the arrow keys for movement. A lot of developers only impliment WASD and I personally find using my right hand for movement more comfortable.

As for another way of displaying enemy health. I like the simplicity of the game graphics at the moment. Adding health bars to everything would clutter the view I think. A couple of options I can think of are:

Only show a healthbar for enemies that are injured.

Change the colour of the enemies to indicate how damaged they are.

Fade out the enemies as they get more injured. Perhaps keeping a solid outline with just their fill fading.

You are right - a screen full of health bars would look terreble and may not fit for this game.
Fading out enemies which are injured sound like a thing I could try!
